My old friend
What's happened to you?
Has 'us' come to an end
After all we've been through?
What happened to the happy girl
I met in third grade?
Content with the world
Lacking your tongue's blade?
Did you not see my tears
Or did you just not care?
After all of these years
Did you not want me there?
Or is the one who changed me?
And you're the one in pain?
Am I the one who couldn't see
While our relationship slid down the drain?
From my eyes, you're to blame.
But am I right?
Will we ever be the same?
The resolution is far from sight.
Maybe it's my own fault, this.
I did turn my back for a spell.
The changes is both of us I surely missed
Now strike me very well.
I understand you no more.
My friend has gone away.
Turned her back, walked out the door.
Not even making an effort to stay.
I don't want to lose you,
But I may have no choice.
If you want me gone, tell me we're through,
Because I can't find my voice.
I don't know how to talk to you
Seeing as you never seem to hear.
But if you change your mind and miss me as I miss you,
I'll be waiting patiently right here.
Because I got bored and thought I'd put a few old poems of mine up, just for the heck of it. ^^;

This particular poem was dedicated to a friend of mine. At the time, we were at a point in our relationship that . . . Well . . . "Rocky" puts it mildly. We were fighting all the time, and I don't think either of us had any idea what to do about the other person. And, at a couple points, I was honestly afraid that our friendship WAS going to break off completely.

Luckily, we have since come to terms with each other, and don't fight very often at all anymore. But either way, I wrote this with her in mind years ago.

I totally know how this is. I was the one who had to walk away from a friendship. The bad outweighed the good so much and I just couldn't take it. You really struck a chord with me on this on.
